The US Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Phoenix field office director has identified DUI convictions as one of the biggest factors their office uses to determine priorities for arrest and deportation.
Stuart Bailey, a Scottsdale restaurateur, is now fighting to remain in the country where the business he founded more than 20 years ago and his family are located, and where he himself has lived for many years, because of two DUI convictions (most recently in 2014) and overstaying his original work visa.
Mr. Bailey’s wife and current owner of Pane e Vino in North Scottsdale, Gillian Bailey, has vowed to keep fighting against the deportation of her husband and, in case of the worst, for his successful return to the US. Mrs. Bailey cites her husband’s positive contributions to society and rehabilitation as factors she hopes will be taken into consideration in his case, and that ICE will look at each person as an individual when making those determinations.
