Faculty Support DACAs

College Campus

More than a thousand signatures have been submitted to the Presidents of Arizona Community Colleges and Public Universities to plead on behalf of Arizona DACA students.  The future of DACA (or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which allows undocumented immigrant college or university students with no serious criminal history a 2-year waiver from deportation) is in serious question following the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election.

Approximately 2,000 law-abiding Arizona students who once were working toward greater rights and privileges in this country are now facing the possibility of arrest, imprisonment and deportation.  The letter requests Arizona college and university administrators to assist its DACA students by ensuring student privacy, helping them to understand their educational status and situation, continuing previously-approved tuition assistance, permitting the student to complete their studies online in the event of deportation.
