10/1/15 The Arizona Daily Star reports that Tucson city police and the FBI are investigating 34 acts of vandalism and sabotage that have occurred since 2013. The general area where the incidents have been reported are in the area bounded by Broadway, Interstate 10, Craycroft and Houghton Roads.
Many of the acts of vandalism were targeted at utility and construction company equipment and property. Agents said in 13 incidents of the incidents construction equipment was stolen. In 1 incident a stolen earth mover seriously damaged two occupied homes. In 10 of incidents metal spikes were placed in roadway manhole covers. In 3 other incidents power poles were damaged with chainsaws, in 2, bike chains thrown at power lines and in 1, bolts were taken from a large electrical transmission tower. In other incidents, a Southwest Gas line was damaged with a drill and a riser pipe was shot at. Lastly, in 3 incidents, traffic-light outages resulted from wires being cut.
Agents said a $22,500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment for any of these incidents. The public is encouraged to call 88-CRIME if they have information about any of these incidents.
