Mesa City Court Defendants Go to Maricopa County Jail

Jail Cell Bars

There has been a recent change for defendants sentenced to jail in the Mesa Municipal court.

Defendants may now serve their jail sentences again in the Mesa City Jail or the Maricopa County ITR Jail (Intake, Transfer, Release Facility).

Defendants who are serving a straight day jail sentence (without work release) may serve the sentence in either the Mesa City Jail or the Maricopa County Intake Jail. If in the Mesa City Jail the defendant self-surrenders at the Mesa Police Department’s Northeast Substation, located at 1333 North Power Road, (480) 644-2323, and then are transported to the CoreCivic Jail in Florence.  A defendant who prefers to, may serve a straight time sentence in the Maricopa County Intake Jail instead however the sentencing judge has the discretion to refuse that request.

If the defendant will be getting work release as a part to the sentence then they surrender at the Maricopa County Intake Jail, 2670 South 28th Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85009, (602) 876-1000.

If a defendant has to take prescribed medication they should check with the jail they are to serve in because the rules can change as to whether they can bring with, them and take the particular medication in the jail.
